A Long Walk

Today [Saturday] was almost a complete day off, going from a late shift on Friday through to a nightshift on Saturday. Consequently I was up early and out for breakfast. I chose an old haunt [The Astoria] and a favourite of Liver and Bacon [Mmmm]. It was just before ten when I finally set off on a good long walk around the City. I walked solid for over about 3 hours, up one street and down another. My travels took me past the local Mac shop [MagnumMac] and I bought the game Call of Duty 4. I’d owned and played this on my youngest sons PS2, before he sold the thing and included my games with it. It’s one of those games that good to play to relax [even though it can keep you tensed up during game-play]. I eventually got back to the hotel around 1:20 pm and was feeling pretty good considering I was perspiring like the proverbial pig. I played a couple of missions on the game [the graphics are outstanding] and then I decided to get some extra Zzzzz’s before having to start nightshift later in the day.
One observation about walking around Wellington, is keep clear of the roads and always cross on the cross-signals. The inner city has narrow roads and buses rule. If you enjoying listening to an Mp3 player while walking make sure you regularly look right and left before crossing or only have one earphone plugged in. It took a couple of close calls and a stream of verbal abuse from drivers to get with it.

I awoke around 6:00pm after 3 hours sleep and by the time I was showered and had packed some of my clothes I was ready for dinner. I went back to my regular restaurant [Pravda] and had the only thing left on the menu I hadn’t tried over the last month [Gorgonzola Dolce Risotto With Poached Pear], this was washed down with a bottle of my favourite sparkling water [no wine I’m working].

One more night to go.

The photo, I assume a joke just highlights the dangers to pedestrians.

Oh, by the way, any thoughts I had of delaying the decorating was quickly removed when my wife read my last post and pointed out the error of my comments.

Another good read, it’s because you are always travelling back and forth (see things hear things). My life is pretty dull since I retired compared to yours.
Another young lady! No wonder you have to decorate the bathroom. If I was dining out so often with young ladies like you do, I would have to redecorate the whole house. So call yourself lucky.
